Job Summary: A midwife is a qualified healthcare professional specializing in providing care and support to expectant mothers throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. Midwives play a crucial role in promoting the health and well-being of both the mother and the baby.
Responsibilities:
Prenatal Care: Conducting routine check-ups on pregnant women to monitor their health and the development of the fetus.
Offering advice on nutrition, exercise, and general prenatal care to ensure a healthy pregnancy.
Identifying and managing potential risk factors during pregnancy.
Labor and Delivery: Assisting mothers during labor and childbirth, providing emotional support and comfort.
Monitoring the progress of labor and the well-being of the mother and baby.
Administering pain relief methods and assisting in natural childbirth techniques.
Postnatal Care: Providing care and guidance to new mothers in the postpartum period.
Assisting with breastfeeding and newborn care.
Monitoring the mother's recovery and well-being.
Health Education: Educating mothers and families about pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care.
Promoting healthy lifestyle choices and practices.
Collaboration: Collaborating with obstetricians, gynecologists, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for mothers and babies.
Referring cases that require specialized medical attention to appropriate healthcare providers.
Record Keeping: Maintaining accurate and detailed records of patient care, including prenatal, labor, and postnatal notes.
