Position Summary:
Traveling Medical Assistant position in a busy Medical-Legal practice. We are in search of a dependable Medical Assistant who is reliable, detail-oriented, has initiative and understands the value of attendance and punctuality. This position requires you to travel to multiple locations throughout California within a designated geography and work with multiple physicians for both in-person and telehealth. This is the perfect job for someone who likes to drive, meet new people every day, is flexible and can adapt quickly to change.
- 100% travel to multiple locations throughout various geographies to help support multiple physicians.
- 90% front office administrative duties
- 10% medical back-office duties
Shift:
- Part-time 2-4 days per week (Monday - Sunday with rotating weekends, shifts vary or every Saturday and off every Sunday)
- Per Diem 0-2 days per week
- A flexible schedule is needed on scheduled work shifts to accommodate varying shift start and end times. Evaluation hours of operation are from 7:00 am – 7:00 pm.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Adherence to DWC, QME, CME policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Provide support for both in-person and telehealth evaluations.
- Prepare for scheduled evaluations in an organized and timely manner prior to the date of the evaluation. (Printing documents, emailing links, location availability/resources, applicant confirmation, interpreter confirmation, etc.)
- Arrive at assigned offices or log on to virtual appointments before the start of the evaluation and ensure that the office is clean and organized or that the applicant and interpreters can log on.
- Greet and support all applicants, interpreters and doctors with a high level of customer service and professionalism.
- Help applicants or interpreters either in-person or virtually with all forms and ensure that they are properly and thoroughly filled out.
- Assist the doctor/s with basic front and back office medical assistant duties during the evaluation.
- Be able to perform basic vital signs.
- Be able to measure and record body measurements, height, weight and ortho body measurements.
- Be able to perform visual acuity screening.
- Be able to efficiently carry out medical asepsis at locations for in-person evaluations and tools.
- Score and generate evaluation report summaries accurately and timely.
- Be able to arrange tools or equipment for the physician to use during the in-person appointment.
- Must be knowledgeable about EKG and Spirometry testing (willing to train).
- Must be knowledgeable with Google Suite (willing to train) and technology.
- Must be detail oriented in reviewing forms and accurately scanning and uploading them in a timely manner.
- Manage and maintain inventories of supplies needed for evaluations.
- Provide administrative support to other CME departments, as needed.
- Is prepared, well organized and is able to accomplish job functions within scheduled work shifts.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with both internal and external customers.
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
Locations may include: Locations will vary. TMAs will be required to travel throughout specific geography to multiple locations on scheduled work shifts to help support multiple physicians on scheduled work shifts.
Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
- Must be willing to travel to multiple locations in one workday throughout designated geographies within the state of California.
- On scheduled work shifts must be available to work during hours of operation.
- Be able to manage stressful situations in a fast-paced environment.
- Be able to multitask, critical think and troubleshoot through various obstacles.
- Healthcare, Workers' Compensation, and Legal Experience are Preferred but not required.
- Valid CA Driver's License, Valid Car Insurance and Good Driving Record required.
- Reliable transportation for in-person evaluations and strong Wi-Fi connection for telehealth
- CPR/BLS certified through the American Heart Association
- Comfortable with technology (EMR/EHR, Microsoft Office and Google Platforms)
- Knowledgeable with designated geography
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Proficient in basic arithmetic
- Excellent customer service
- Spanish speaking is a plus but not required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
